Microsoft has officially unveiled MAI-Image-2, its latest in-house text-to-image model, as part of a broader push by the Microsoft AI Superintelligence team to build stronger frontier models across modalities.

According to the official announcement from Microsoft AI, MAI-Image-2 is now ranked as the #3 model family on the Arena.ai leaderboard, marking a stronger result than earlier reporting that placed it lower. Microsoft says the model is built for creative work such as photorealistic imagery, typography-heavy visuals, diagrams, slides, and richly detailed artistic scenes.
