Perplexity AI has unveiled its new premium subscription tier—
Perplexity Max—with a monthly price of
$200, positioning itself as a top-tier offering for heavy AI tool users.
According to the company’s help center, Max provides
unlimited access to advanced AI models and
unrestricted usage of Perplexity Labs—the platform’s toolset for generating spreadsheets, reports, dashboards, and even web applications—beyond the standard Pro tier limits (
perplexity.ai).
Launch coverage reports from SiliconANGLE state that Max subscribers also receive
early access to Comet, Perplexity’s upcoming AI-powered browser, and priority support (
siliconangle.com). TechCrunch expanded on the new tier, noting that it includes all Pro features—such as OpenAI o3‑pro and Anthropic Claude Opus 4 model access—plus new frontier models and enhanced rate limits (

Gadgets360 emphasized that Max is now the
most expensive subscription in Perplexity’s lineup—surpassing its $20 Pro and $40 Enterprise plans—and highlighted that an Enterprise-tier version of Max is slated for release in future (
gadgets360.com).
Citing internal Perplexity data from PYMNTS, the tier’s launch follows significant usage growth—780 million queries per month and $80 million ARR in January—though the company still faces heavy cloud costs ($65 million monthly) (
pymnts.com). Pricing here aligns with trends set by other AI platforms like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, each offering $200/month plans.
Perplexity’s move to introduce Max signals a clear bet on
power-user monetization, shifting from freemium models toward high-value, subscription-based revenue. The feature-rich focus—unlimited Labs, frontier models, Comet beta access, and priority support—targets professionals, researchers, writers, and strategists who consistently hit Pro limits. The tier’s success will hinge on Perplexity’s ability to retain its growing user base and differentiate itself against deep-pocketed competitors in AI search and browsing.
