Periscope Founders Launch Macroscope, an AI System for Developers and Product Leaders
18-Sep-2025
The founders of Periscope, the livestreaming startup acquired by Twitter, have launched a new AI-focused company called Macroscope. Announced by former Twitter head of product Kayvon Beykpour on Wednesday, Macroscope is an AI-powered system aimed at developers and product leaders. The platform summarizes updates to a codebase, detects bugs, and streamlines collaboration.
Beykpour, now CEO of Macroscope, co-founded the company in July 2023 with longtime friend Joe Bernstein, who was also part of Periscope and their earlier startup Terriblyclever, acquired by Blackboard in 2009. They are joined by Rob Bishop, who previously sold his machine learning and computer vision startup, Magic Pony Technology, to Twitter in 2016.
Macroscope describes its product as an 'AI-powered understanding engine,' designed to save engineers time and reduce the friction of managing complex codebases. The founders highlight it as the type of tool they wished they had when building their earlier companies. The system is targeted at improving efficiency for engineers who currently rely on multiple tools such as JIRA, Linear, and spreadsheets, often spending excessive time in meetings instead of coding.
By offering automation and AI insights, Macroscope seeks to free up engineering teams to focus on building products rather than managing processes.
