IBM has officially announced the acquisition of
Seek AI, an enterprise AI platform that helps users ask natural language questions about their data, further accelerating IBM’s push into AI and its support for enterprise solutions. The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
Seek AI, founded in 2021 by Sarah Nagy, developed tools that enable users to interact with complex enterprise data using natural language. The system uses chatbot-style interfaces to automatically translate spoken or typed queries into structured database operations and generate summarized insights. Seek’s intuitive AI aims to make business intelligence more accessible across non-technical departments of organizations.
This acquisition plays a strategic role in the launch of IBM’s new initiative,
Watsonx AI Labs, a NYC-based accelerator for AI startups and developers. Seek AI’s platform will be integrated as a core component of the Labs, aligning with IBM’s mission to foster innovation in AI infrastructure, particularly in the enterprise domain.
IBM GM of Data and AI, Ritika Gunnar, emphasized that Watsonx AI Labs will provide access to cutting-edge resources, world-class engineers, and an environment ripe for building AI businesses. “By anchoring our mission in New York City, we are investing in a vibrant community whose innovations have long shaped the tech landscape,” she stated.
Prior to the acquisition, Seek had raised around $10 million in venture funding from investors such as Battery Ventures, Conviction Partners, and NJP Ventures. The startup will relocate to One Madison, IBM’s new Manhattan hub, upon the closing of the deal. Sarah Nagy, the company’s founder, expressed enthusiasm about scaling their solution under IBM’s umbrella to empower the next generation of AI developers.
This move signals IBM’s ongoing commitment to empowering enterprises through AI and highlights the growing importance of conversational data tools in making enterprise analytics more democratic and accessible.
