Google introduces Gemini-powered Disco to turn browser tabs into AI-generated apps
16-Dec-2025
Google has introduced a new AI experiment called Disco, powered by its Gemini models, aimed at transforming how users interact with the web. Disco allows users to convert their open browser tabs into custom, interactive web applications known as “GenTabs.” These GenTabs proactively suggest tools and mini-apps based on what a user is browsing, helping them complete tasks faster and with more context.
Users can also build their own lightweight applications using simple written prompts, lowering the barrier to creating functional web tools without traditional coding. For example, someone studying a subject can instantly generate visualizations or interactive summaries to better understand complex concepts.
Disco reflects Google’s broader push to move Gemini beyond chat interfaces and into ambient, productivity-focused experiences directly inside the browser. The experiment highlights a future where browsing, learning, and app creation merge into a single AI-assisted workflow.
