Google DeepMind has released a retrospective reflecting on the tenth anniversary of AlphaGo, the artificial intelligence system that became widely known for defeating top professional Go players and demonstrating the power of deep reinforcement learning.

According to the official blog post from Google DeepMind, the AlphaGo project marked a major turning point in AI research by combining deep neural networks with reinforcement learning to master one of the most complex board games ever created.

The AlphaGo breakthrough
