OpenAI’s Sam Altman Makes Public Hiring Call for Infrastructure and Compiler Experts
16-Apr-2025
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has issued an open invitation to top-tier talent in infrastructure, very large-scale computing systems, compiler design, and programming language development to join OpenAI. In a series of posts on X, Altman described the current state of operations at OpenAI as 'insane' in scale, emphasizing the 'very hard/interesting challenges' the team is facing.
He specifically called on those experienced in squeezing maximum performance from systems or working on compilers to reach out, suggesting that there are highly impactful roles waiting for the right talent. In a separate post, he playfully targeted professionals in high-frequency trading or low-latency systems, urging them to consider contributing to the mission of building AGI instead.
This hiring initiative highlights OpenAI’s deep need for systems experts to address infrastructure scaling as it continues developing next-gen AI capabilities.
